Whilst its leaves are not fully complete, they are compact, and appear black in colour. However, there are exceptions as some leaves have a rusty and sage-like colour. It has a rich fruity scent which boasts flavours of apricot, peach, and plum.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1710929023335{border-left-width: 3px !important;padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;border-left-color: #ba3818 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;}”]

History

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”justi”]Located in the northern part of Kurseong, at an altitude ranging from 950 meters to 1830 meters, is the renowned Margaret’s Hope Tea estate and plantation, which was founded a hundred and fifty years ago. It was formerly known as Bara Ringtong. According to an old legend, in the early 20th century Ringtong’s director at the time, Mr Bagdon, renamed the place Margaret’s Hope. The sombre name alludes to a great tragedy that Mr. Bagdon suffered in 1927. Mr. Bagdon, who began planting tea on the southwestern crest of the Balasun River, had a daughter named Margaret. According to the tale, Margaret came all the way from Great Britain to visit the estate and happened to become infatuated with its sublime beauty. The region impressed her so much that she contemplated staying in Bara Ringtong. Unfortunately, she had to return to England accompanied by her mother.

However, fate had different plans for Margaret and her unfortunate father. During a gruelling four-month journey, when Margaret and her mother were heading back to England, Margaret fell ill on board and passed tragically. Mr. Bagdon continued to manage the estate, but his sorrow wouldn’t subside. According to sources, he had visions of his deceased daughter while strolling around the estate, reminiscing about his hopes of living there with her someday. In light of this unfortunate turn of events, he decided to rename the plantation Margaret’s Hope.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1710929077542{border-left-width: 3px !important;padding-top: 10px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;border-left-color: #ba3818 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;}”]

Preparation

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”justi”]For this tea, use a classic porcelain or glass teapot. Preheat the teapot by pouring hot water inside it. Measure out one teaspoon of tea per cup and add it to the teapot. Pour the boiling water over the tea. Let the tea steep for approximately 4 1/2 – 5 minutes. We suggest you don’t add any milk, sugar, or lemon to the tea as you won’t be able to truly appreciate the fruity flavour that it has. Additionally, Darjeeling tea is recommended as a refreshing beverage for breakfast or the afternoon.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5101″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Darjeeling Second Flush Long leaf black tea

Place of origin: INDIA

[57
63
