Description
Dhara White is a distinctive artisan white tea from the mountainous forests of Mae Hong Son in Northern Thailand. The tea plants grow in a naturally biodiverse environment among other vegetation, closely linking tea production with the preservation of the surrounding forest.
The story of this tea is also the story of a local community. Its production is led by tea master Dhara, who works together with a team of local women. Monsoon Tea has been collaborating with them since 2014, developing tea production that creates value for the community while encouraging the preservation of the forest environment.
Dhara White produces a clear, pale infusion with a soft and silky character. Delicate floral and fresh aromas are complemented by a natural, lingering honeyed sweetness, with subtle fruity notes reminiscent of cherry.
Refined yet distinctive, this white tea reflects its forest origin and the careful work behind its production. Give it a little time, and its delicate aromas gradually reveal themselves from one infusion to the next.
Preparation
To bring out the delicate aromas of Dhara White, use soft or filtered water at 80–85 °C. Its character develops beautifully in a porcelain or glass teapot.
Use approximately 4 g of tea per 200–250 ml of water and steep the first infusion for 2–3 minutes. The resulting liquor is light and clear, with delicate floral aromas and a lingering honeyed sweetness.
Dhara White can be infused several times. Gradually increase the steeping time with subsequent infusions and notice how its character evolves, with floral, honeyed and fruity notes coming forward in different proportions.
Secret Tip – try it cold brewed:
Add 5–6 g of Dhara White to 500 ml of cold, preferably filtered water. Cover and leave it in the refrigerator for 6–8 hours, then strain and serve chilled. The slow, cold infusion beautifully highlights the tea’s natural sweetness and its soft floral and fruity aromas.
