You may notice that this tea has a very unique appearance compared to others. One side of its leaves are black, whilst the other is a pale white, as if moonlight is shining on the buds. In recognition of this, it was given the endearing name: “Moonlight White”. They pick ancient, large- leaf Yunnan tea bushes’ buds and spring tea leaves for this tea. They deposit them in soil-based houses and let them naturally ferment overnight under controlled conditions. It is essential that they stay out of the sun while the fermentation process is ongoing.
It also has a substantial quantity of tea polyphenols alongside to an abundance of alkaloids and vitamins. Moonlight white tea even aids with the reduction of wrinkles and supports skin regeneration. Preparation
To boil the water, use a glass teapot or a traditionally made Yixing clay teapot, or alternatively a gaiwan cup. When preparing Pu-erh tea, you have to regularly keep an eye out for the temperature of the water, as it has a large impact on the aroma and flavour of the beverage. The ideal water temperature for pu-erh tea should be around 95 °C. The typical amount of tea suggested per 150 ml of water is 3 – 5 grams, however the amount should depend on your personal preference. To achieve a natural aroma, preheat your teaware. To accomplish this, do 1 – 2 rinsing cycles followed by immediate pouring. In order to preserve the flavour of the pour, this should be done swiftly. During the first proper steeping, you can pour the tea into the cup after one minute and proceed with the second pour. To maintain a constant density of the tea for future pours, you can gradually increase the steeping duration from one minute to a few minutes.
