Description

The robust muscatel flavour of Makaibari second flush tea is its defining characteristic. Its amber-coloured brew appears shiny and has an aroma reminiscent of spring fruits. With each sip, a hint of honeyed aftertaste reveals the muscatel quality we taste.

History

For more than 150 years, the Banerjee family has been in charge of tending to the Makaibari tea plantations, which is known as the world very first tea estate, founded by C. G. Banerjee in 1859. Rajah, also known as Swaraj Kumar Banerjee, has led Makaibari since the 1990s. He is quite the visionary farmer and an entrepreneur who has devoted his life to preserving soil quality and improving people livelihoods. This generation of farmers have contributed to Makaibari developing into an established global brand that produces goods of  exceptional quality.

Preparation

For brewing, we recommend using a classic porcelain or glass teapot. Use hot water to preheat the teapot. Then fill the teapot with one teaspoon of tea for each cup you plan to serve. Now pour boiling water over it. Give the tea leaves four minutes or so to steep in the hot water. You can change the steeping time if you wish, anywhere between three and five minutes (we suggest). When the brewing is finished, try the tea without adding any sugar or milk at first. Naturally, you are more than welcome to try it with such additions, but we believe that its organic and core flavour is worth appreciating.
